Medworm Coeliac Disease: Not everything is celiac disease
All About Celiac News - Tue, 08/31/2010 - 17:00
In this issue of the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Mangiavillano et al remind us that the lesion of celiac disease is patchy and suggest that the diagnosis can be missed if biopsy samples from the duodenal bulb are not taken. They report their single-center, prospective study in 47 children with âclinical and serological indicators of the disease.â Each patient underwent EGD with 4 biopsy specimens obtained from the duodenal bulb and 4 from the descending duodenum. One pathologist read the biopsy results blinded to the clinical data. (Source: Gastrointestinal Endoscopy)
